Golfers take 9th to open spring

The Kats closed with their best round of the tournament, firing a 299. Heather Shake and Hannah Alberto each had their best rounds on Tuesday as well, each shooting 72.
“This was a very good field and a great tournament for us to open the spring,” said women's coach Tommy Chain. “Heather and Hanna each had a solid event and Jenna Phillips had two good rounds.”
Shake finished 18th overall and Alberto was 21st. Phillips was 41st.
The Kats opened the tournament on Monday with a 307, but came back in the afternoon to shoot a 302 before closing with the 299.
“We were unable to put together four good individual scores in any of our three rounds which led to us finishing in the middle of the pack,” Chain said. “I saw some positive things out there this weekend to build on for the rest of the spring.”
The Kats will be back in action next week at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi.
