Holcomb, Christiansen Pace Kats in Round Two of Quail Valley Collegiate

VERO BEACH, Fla. – William Holcomb and Austen Christiansen sit in a three-way tie for 11th place as the Sam Houston State men's golf team jumped into eighth after shooting a team score of 284 in round two of the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, Monday afternoon.
Tied with a total score of 141, Holcomb wrote down a weekend-low score of 68 and Christiansen shot 70 in round two. Holcomb picked up four consecutive birdies on holes four through seven. He collected two more on holes 13 and 16, finishing four-below par.
Christiansen was one of two Bearkats to record an eagle in round two and he tallied a pair of birdies to aid his 70-stroke effort. Freshman Grayson Blunt was the other golfer to collect an eagle as he finished with a score of 75 for the day. Sam Houston leads the field with two eagles.
Noah Steele cut four strokes off his score from yesterday afternoon and finished round two with 71 down on the scorecard. Steele, who has a total score of 146, is tied for 39th overall.
Posting another 76-stroke effort, freshman Jack Randle collected birdies on holes seven, 10 and 14. Randle and Blunt are currently tied for 66th after two rounds.
