Phillips Claims Title at UT Arlington Invitational

MANSFIELD, Texas – Shooting the lowest round of the tournament, senior Jenna Phillips used a 67-stroke effort in the final round to claim the individual title of the UT Arlington Invitational, Tuesday morning at Walnut Creek Country Club.
Phillips, who ended yesterday in a tie for sixth place, used five birdies to finish the tournament just two-over par. She picked up back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth hole and collected three others on holes eight, 11 and 13. The senior led the field in par four scoring and finished the invitational with a total of eight birdies.
Hanna Alberto finished four strokes behind Phillips and tied for third with an overall score of 219. Her lowest-scoring round of the invitational, Alberto carded a 72 on the final day with the help of three birdies. She led the team with nine birdies over the two-day event and averaged 4.78 in par five scoring.
Tori Gatling ended the invitational in a three-way tie for 42nd after shooting 249 and freshman Kayla McFall tied for 46th with a final score of 253.
The Kats wrap up their fall schedule at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Oct. 30-31 in Kapolei, Hawaii.
