HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will put their nine-game win streak on the line on Tuesday night when they travel to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The game is set for a 6:30 pm first pitch and will be aired on the Longhorn Network and the WatchESPN app. Lowell Galindo will have the call alongside Greg Swindell and Keith Moreland. Fans can also catch all the action over the air with Jason Barfield and Daniel Williams calling the game on KSHU 90.5 FM, while live stats and Twitter updates will be available by following @BearkatsBSB.
Fans unable to make the trip to Austin are encouraged to join Bearkat Athletics at The Draft Bar for an official watch party.
Sam Houston is coming off a 4-0 week that included a sweep at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over the weekend and will be concluding an eight-game road trip with its trip to Austin. A win over the Longhorns would not only be the Bearkats' third since 2013, but would also equal the program's second-longest road win streak and put them one shy of the all-time record of nine in a row set between the 1976 and 1977 seasons.
The Kats go into Tuesday having pushed their way into the top 25 of each of the national polls, including D1Baseball.com, Collegiate Baseball and the USA Today/Coaches' poll as of Monday. They've done it on the strength of their current streak with a stretch of eight games in a row away from home coming to a close on Tuesday.
Sam's pitching staff has been outstanding during its nine-game streak with just a 1.00 ERA and 88 punchouts in 81.0 innings, only allowing four runs in three games over the weekend against the Islanders. They'll look to keep that strong play going when they face off against the Longhorns who are coming off opening up Big 12 play with a three-game sweep of their own over Kansas.
