
Holcomb leads, Kats 2nd at Walden

With two rounds of play in the books at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational, the Sam Houston State men's golf team is in second place.
The Kats shot rounds of 290 and 287 at Walden on Lake Conroe in Montgomery and trail UTRGV by 10 strokes heading into Tuesday's final round.
William Holcomb is tied for the lead at 6-under. He opened his day with a 66 to take the first-round lead. Holcomb bogeyed his first hole of the day, but played the remaining 17 holes without a bogey and seven birdies. He was even par for his second round and shares the top spot with Brandon Hoff of Baylor.
Noah Steele is in a group of five golfers in a tie for 5th at 3-under for the tournament. Steele opened the day with a 70 and followed that up with a 71 in the afternoon.
Luis Carrera had a consistent day posting rounds of 72 and is even-par for the tournament and stands in a tie for 14th.
Jack Randle had the biggest turnaround from rounds one to two, improving by 10 strokes in the second round to shoot a 72. Randle got hot towards the end of the day with birdies on 14, 16, 17 and 18. He closed his round out on hole No. 2 with a birdie as well to shoot 5-under over his last seven holes.
