Bearkats women take 7th in season opener

SPRINGVILLE, Utah - The Sam Houston women's golf team took seventh in their opening tournament of the season at Hobble Creek Fall Classic. The 17-team event was held in at the Hobble Creek Golf Course.

The Bearkats stayed consistent throughout the tournament, opening with rounds of 295 and 297 before shooting a 296 on Tuesday.Â

Hanna Alberto led the way for the Bearkats finishing at 4-over for the tournament and in a tie for 6th place. She fired her best round on Tuesday, shooting a 71, which was the low round of the tournament for the Bearkats, to move her up from 12th where she entered the day.Â

Zulaikah Nasser and Viera Permata Rosada each finished in a tie for 29th place at 11-over while Anna Takahashi was 42nd at 14-over. Leah Alberto rounded out the scoring for the Kats finishing in 62nd place at 19-over par.

The Kats will be back in action Sept. 23-24 at the Col. Wollenberg's Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State.
