Box Score HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season by sweeping UTRGV 7-0 at the McAdams Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
 
Junior Sahaja Yamalapalli and freshman Emma Goedkoop remained unbeaten at 2-0 on the season. Yamalapalli defeated Katarina Sasaroga 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 singles, while Goedkoop blanked Alicia Thal 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
 
In No. 2 singles, sophomore Isidora Zivkovic (1-1) defeated Sandra Putz 6-1, 6-3, and in No. 3 singles, junior Karla De La Luz Montalvo (1-1) topped Ana Platisa 6-4, 6-2. Senior Dena Nicolaou (1-1) won her No. 4 singles match against Valeria Montero 6-0, 6-3 and senior Lusine Chobanyan (1-1) defeated Kristyna Mamicova 6-0, 6-1 in No. 5 singles.
 
The Bearkats also claimed the doubles point by winning all three matches.
 
The No. 1 duo of Yamalapalli and De La Luz Montalvo defeated Sasaroga and Putz 6-0. Sophomore Petra Kaszas and Nicolaou stopped Montero and Platisa 6-3 in No. 2 doubles action, and junior Roos Gerritsan and Goedkoop defeated Thal and Mamicova 6-3 in No. 3 play.
 
Sam Houston State hosts Texas State Sunday at the McAdams Tennis Center.
