OTD: Women’s golf places 4th in Tulsa

The Sam Houston State women's golf team fired a 54-hole score of 309-315-318--942 to tie with Central Arkansas for fourth place at the Oral Roberts Shootout on this date in 2009.

The tournament was played Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 on the par 72, 6,196-yard layout at Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jessica Borth led the Sam Houston women with a 13^th-place finish with her 78-77-81 — 236 total. Meghann Stevens tied for 15th one stroke back at 75-81-81 — 237.

Other Bearkat finishes included Landa Stewart, who tied for 17th at 77-83-78 — 238, Megan Musk, who also tied for 17th with an 83-77-78 — 238, Jenna Stene, who was 33rd with 80-78-84 — 242 and Kirsten Spittler, who came in 47th with 79-80-88 — 247.

Host Oral Roberts won the team title with a score of 935, one stroke ahead of runner-up UTEP. Louisiana-Monroe was third, four strokes ahead of the Bearkats.
