LAREDO - The Bearkats shot a huge second round at the Border Olympics and will take a five shot lead into the final round at the Max Mandel Municipal Golf Course.

After a 1-over 289 in the opening round, they followed up with a 276, 10 shots better than second place UTSA.

Noah Steele opened the day with a tournament-low round of 66 and leads by 3 shots over William Holcomb. Steele is 9-under for the tournament after shooting a 69 in round 2. He finished his day with a clean back nine with three birdies.

Holcomb also fired two under-par rounds of 71 and 67 and sits in second at 6-under. He got better as the day went on. In the second round he made the turn at 1-under for the round, and then carded four birdies in his final nine holes for a bogey-free 67.

Freshman Ting-Wei Hsieh is 38^th at 4-over, Luis Carrera is 58^th at 6-over and Jack Randle is 65^th at 8-over. Grayson Blunt is playing as an individual and is 12-over and in 77^th place.
