Bearkats are 2nd after 18 at Bentwater

MONTGOMERY, Texas - With 18 holes in the books, the men's golf team sits in second place at the Bentwater Intercollegiate. Playing the Miller Course at Bentwater Country Club, the Sam Houston men's golf team shot a 3-over 287 and trail Texas State by two shots.

Chad Sewell shot the low round of the day for the Bearkats with a 2-under 69 and is one-shot off the lead. Sewell shot a bogey-free round with a birdie on each nine.

Three Kats are in a tie for 6^th at 1-under. Grayson Blunt opened his day with a birdie on his way to a four-birdie round. Gene Chaikangwal and Tristan Renaud, both playing as individuals, also were 1-under on the day.

Bret Gray is tied for 26^th at 2-over, Jack Randle is tied for 41sr at 4-over and Ting-Wei Hsieh is tied for 55^th at 5-over. Josh German, who is playing as an individual is 1-over and tied for 18^th.

Round two will be played on Tuesday and the final round is Wednesday.
