
Men's golf inks two from Texas

The men's golf program has announced the signing of a pair of Texas high school golfers with the addition of Tomek Pickrell and Daniel Moon.

Pickrell, from Cypress, is the No. 10 ranked golfer on the Junior Golf Association Scoreboard while Moon, from Temple, notched a victory 2021 Legends Junior Tour Spring Preview.

"This is a great class and we are excited to have Tomek and Daniel join us," said head coach Brandt Kieschnick. "Both these guys are extremely talented and I like that they've won some big junior events. Tomek has played well at the State and National level and I was impressed with his win at the AJGA Squaw Creek this summer. Daniel has won two Legends events and shows that he knows how to get it done in competition. Tomek and Daniel will fit great in our program and will keep us competing at a high level."

Pickrell, who plays at Cy-Fair High School is Ranked #10 in Texas on Junior Golf Scoreboard Ranking and #41 Nationally in the 2022 Class. He won the 2021 AJGA Junior at Squaw Creek firing 69-67-70 and also won the 2021 U.S. Junior qualifying in Houston firing 70.Â

He finished 2nd at Legends Junior Tour Spring Preview with rounds of 75-66 and finished 4th at 48th Southern Junior Championship firing 75-72-69. Other top results include 6th at 2021 AJGA C.T. Pan Junior with rounds of 69-72-76 , shot 71-79 at 2021 U.S. Junior and 12th at 49th Southern Junior Championship firing 69-73-75.Â

Moon, who plays at Temple High School, won the 2021 Legends Junior Tour Spring Preview firing 70-69. He also won the 2020 LJT Alamo Shootout with rounds of 68-75. He shot 147 for 36 holes at 2021 6A Region II to finish runner-up and qualify for the 2021 6A State High School Championship

He has a strong 2020 season taking 9th at 2020 All-State Sugar Bowl Tommy Moore Memorial with rounds of 75-74, 4th at 2020 LJT Lanny Wadkins Junior Championship firing 75-68, 3rd at 2020 AJGA Stan Utley and Mid-America Youth Golf Foundation Junior All-Star with rounds of 69-73 and 3rd at 2020 STPGA - Fredericksburg Open firing 68-71.
