Takahashi leads at Raven Nest

HUNTSVILLE – Anna Takahashi fired a second round 69 and leads after the first day The Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational.

Takahashi, a freshman from Grapevine, opened her day with a 75 and was in 16^th place after the first round. But her 69 at Raven Nest Golf Club was the low round of the day, shooting her up the leaderboard.

She is part of a group of six Bearkats in the top seven individuals as Sam Houston holds a nine-shot lead over Houston Baptist.

Takahashi's second round started with 12 straight pars before picking up birdies on Nos. 16 and 18. She closed with pars on Nos. 1 and 2 to finish with the only bogey-free round of the tournament.

Jennifer Herbst is just a stroke back, part of a 4-way tie for second place at 3-over for the tournament. Her even-par second round moved her up four places on the leaderboard as one of just three golfers to shoot par or better on Monday. Madison Freeman, who is playing as an individual, is also tied for second.

Zulaikah Nasser is 5-over for the tournament and sits in 6^th place after rounds of 74 and 73. Viera Permata Rosada and Leah Alberto are tied for 7^th at 6-over. Kenlie Barrett, who is playing as an individual, is 19^th at 12-over par.

The tournament will conclude Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
