Men's Golf sits in 2nd at Walden

MONTGOMERY – With 36 holes in the books, the men's golf team stands in second place at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational at Walden on Lake Conroe.

The Kats shot rounds of 291 and 287 and trial UTA by five shots heading into Tuesday's final round.

Paul Chaplet and Jack Randle are tied for third in a field of 83 golfers, sitting at 2-under for the tournament. They are two shots off the lead. Chaplet shot the low round of the day in round 2, firing a 68. Jack Randle posted matching scores of 71 for his day.

Chaplet got his second round off to a great start. After a bogey on No. 1, he carded four straight birdies on Nos. 3-6. After a birdie on No. 9, he made the turn at 4-under. Chaplet had bogeys at Nos. 10 and 13, he birdied 14 and 16 for his round of 68.

The only other 68 that was shot on the day was by Ting-Wei Hsieh. The Bearkat freshman opened the day with a 68 playing as an individual. He is tied for 12^th at 2-over.

William Holcomb is currently tied for 19^th at 4-over par. Holcomb bounced back from an opening round 77 to shot a 71 in round 2.
