Sewell named WAC Golfer of the Week

DENVER, Colo. - Chad Sewell has had quite the introduction to his new golf teammates.

The UTSA transfer opened his Sam Houston career with a second-place finish this week at the K-State Wildcat Invitational.

On Wednesday he was recognized as the WAC Men's Golfer of the Week.

Sewell, a senior from Conroe, placed second among 75 golfers to help lead the Bearkats to their first win in their first event of the young season.

After shooting an even-par 72 in the opening round, he went 3-under-par in the second round and finished the tournament with a 1-under-par 71 to finish 4-under-par at 212 and just two strokes back of the lead. As a team, the Bearkats cruised to the title, finishing nine strokes ahead of the host Wildcats with an even-par 864.

The Bearkats will be back in action Sept. 26-28 at the Badger Invitational hosted by the Wisconsin.
