Women's golf sits in third

MANHATTAN, Kan. – With 36 holes in the books, the Sam Houston women's golf team sits in third place in the 10-team field at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational.

The Bearkats shot a 598 through two rounds and trail the Nebraska (B) by 17 strokes.

Zulaikah Nasser and Anna Takahashi are tied for 8th overall on the individual leaderboard, shooting 4-over. Nasser shot the low round for the Kats to open the tournament closing out her first 18 at 2-under par.

As the scores in round two went up, Takahashi stayed steady. She shot an even-par round of 72, carding 16 pars, with a birdie on No. 9 and a bogey on No. 13.

Jennifer Herbst is the third Kat in the top 20, shooting 6-over over the first two rounds and is tied for 18th.

Leah Alberto is tied for 23rd, shooting 8-over, while Audrey Haddad is in 48th at 15-over. Viera Permata Rosada is in 42ndplaying as an individual.
