MOBILE, Ala. – The Sam Houston women's golf team picked up right where they left off last season, running away with the team title at the USA Intercollegiate in record-breaking fashion.

The Bearkats smashed the 54-hole record by 32 strokes, shooting an 833 to win their opening tournament of the season by 19 strokes over South Florida.

Zulaikah Nasser took home the individual title, also putting her name in the SHSU record book. Her 54-hole score of 201 tied the make set by Hanna Alberto last season at the Texas State Invitational. It is the first title in Nasser's Bearkat career.

Nasser carded just one bogey over her three rounds, winning the medalist honors by two shots over teammate Jennifer Herbst. Herbst shot the low round of the day, a 66, with the help of an eagle on No. 3. Her equals the low round in program history, becoming the fourth Bearkat to shoot a 66, including Nasser who also did it in Sunday's second round.

Nasser and Herbst were two of the three golfers to shoot all three rounds in the 60s in the tournament.

Anna Takahashi was the third Bearkat golfer to record a top-10 finish, taking sixth at 6-under for the tournament. Leah Alberto finished 25^th, shooting 3-over and Viera Permata Rosada was 53^rd at 8-over for the tournament.

Audrey Haddad, playing as an individual, finished 15^th in her Bearkat debut, after an even-par 54-hole total.
