Kats take fourth at Northeast Classic

DEPTFORD, N.J. - The Sam Houston bowlers posted a 6-7 record this weekend at the Northeast Classic in New Jersey, and walked away with a fourth-place finish in the first event of the spring semester for the No. 1-ranked team in the country.
The Kats opened up the day as the No. 4 seed in the best of seven match against Youngstown State. After dropping the opening match to the Penguins, they bounced back with a win over Mount St. Mary's.
In the third place match, the Kats had another shot at Youngstown, but once again came up short, falling in six games.
Denise Blankenzee finished as the top individual, with a 239.4 average in her five games on Saturday and earned 1st team all-tournament honoros. Blankenzee topped 200 in four of her games, including a tournament best 290 in the third match of the day.
The Kats will be back in action next week for the Prairie View Invitational in Arlington.
