THIBODAUX, La. — The Sam Houston tennis squad dropped a hard-fought match to Nicholls on Saturday at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
The Bearkats (3-2) lost 5-2, but several of the matches could have gone in their favor.
Sahithi Vutukuru picked up a point at No. 4 singles, defeating Laura Lopez 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Sunskrithi Damera battled to a 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 10-8 victory over Carla Bouygues at the No. 5 spot.
Isidora Zivkovic went three sets at No. 2 singles before eventually losing to Sophia Sara Safarova 7-5, 1-6, 6-4.
Megan Basson lost at No. 1 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), and
Lusine Chobanyan pushed Morgan Forshag to the limit at No. 6 but came up short 6-3, 7-6 (9-7).
Zivkovic and Chobanyan did earn a 6-2 victory in their No. 3 singles match against Forshag and Safarova.
Sam Houston will play Southern Miss Sunday in Thibodaux at 11 a.m.
