Chambers named tournament MVP

DALLAS – Elise Chambers earned MVP honors and the Sam Houston bowlers took fourth place at the Lady Techster Classic on Sunday at USA Bowl.
Chambers led all bowlers with a 212 average over her six games. She had a high game of 256, helping the Bearkats to another top 4 finish this season.
The Bearkats posted a 6-6 record on the weekend, dropping both matches on Sunday in the championship bracket. Entering as the No. 4 seed, they lost in four games to Arkansas State. In the third place match, it was a rematch with SFA who beat the Kats in the final qualifying match Sunday morning. Once again SFA got the best of the Kats, winning in 6 games.
The Kats had two additional individuals in the top 15 with Denise Blankenzee finishing in 14th with 196.50 average. Her high game was a 231 on Sunday. Hayley Connelly also posted a 196.50 average with a high game of 227.
The Bearkats will be right back in action next week when they head to Arkansas for the Mid-Winter Invitational.
