Kats in second at Border Olympics

LAREDO - Four Bearkat golfers are in the top 13 and Sam Houston sits in second place after the first day of the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club.

The Bearkats are 2-under after 36 holes and are tied for second with Baylor. Houston leads the 14-team field at 9-under.

Chad Sewell leads the way for the Bearkats and is in 8^th overall after 36 holes. He opened the day with a 71 and followed that up with a 70 and is 3-under for the tournament. He will enter Tuesday four-shots off the lead.

Jack Randle had an even-par day, opening with a 1-under 71 and then closing with a 73. He currently sits in 11^th place overall. Grayson Blunt is a shot back of Randle in 13^th place after rounds of 71 and 74.

Josh German, who is playing as an individual is also in 13^th, shooting 73 and 72. Gene Chaikangwal is 2-over for the tournament with rounds of 72 and 74. He currently sits in 22^nd place. Ting-Wei Hsieh opened the day with a 77, but bounced back with an even-par round to close out the day.

Tuesday's final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, with the Bearkats playing with Houston, Baylor and fourth place Lamar.
