RUSTON, La. — The Sam Houston tennis team rolled to a 5-2 victory against Murray State on Saturday at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
The Bearkats (4-4) dominated Murray State in singles competition. Sam Houston won at No. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6, all in straight sets.
Megan Basson got the Kats off to an impressive start, easily defeating Annika Pschorr 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 spot to tie the match.
Sunskrithi Damera put Sam Houston up 2-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Gabrielle Geolier.
The Racers, who took the doubles point, tied the match with a win at No. 3, but
Lusine Chobanyan took care of Jody Font Montero 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5.
Isidora Zivkovic clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Marit Kruegel at No. 4 singles, and
Andjela Vidovic put the finishing touches on the win by defeating Stasya Sharapova 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 2 spot.
The Bearkats will travel to San Marcos to face Texas State on Friday at noon.
