HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston tennis team played several close matches but lost to Marquette 6-1 at the McAdams Tennis Center on Tuesday.
The Bearkats' lone win came at No. 4 singles.
Isidora Zivkovic defeated Giulia Turconi 6-4, 7-5 for her sixth victory of the season.
Megan Basson battled to a three-set loss at No. 1 singles, falling to Natalija Popvic 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Sunskrithi Damera won the opening set at No. 5 singles, but dropped the next two 6-2, 6-4 to Elisabeth Desmarais.
Petra Kaszas also went three sets at No. 6 singles. She was defeated by Lara Kaiser 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Marquette's Emilija Kojcic topped
Sahithi Vutukuru 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Elizabeth Ferdman stopped
Lusine Chobanyan 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot.
The Golden Eagles won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and 3.
Sam Houston (4-7) will host Binghamton Tuesday at 1 p.m.
