Bearkats eliminated from Southland Championships

HARAHAN, La. – The top-seeded Bearkats run at the Southland Bowling League Championship came to an end on Saturday morning in a loss to 5^th-seed Louisiana Tech.

The Bearkats took the early momentum in the match, winning the traditional team set 1003-1000. It came down to the final frame and Denise Blankenzee struck all three times to give the Kats the three-pin win.

The team baker was just as close, with La Tech pulling out a narrow 10-pin victory. In the best-of-7 baker match, the Kats twice found themselves down two games, 2-0 and 3-1, before battling back to force a decisive 7^th game.

In the final game, La Tech took the early lead and never looked back, winning the match and eliminating the Kats from the Southland Championships.

The focus for the Kats will now shift to the NCAA selection show on Wednesday to see if their name will be called for one of the four regionals.
