Three bowlers named All-Region

After one of the most successful regular season's in program history, the Sam Houston Bearkats had three bowlers recognized on the NTCA All-Region team, announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Denise Blankenzee was a first-team selection, after leading the team in most statistical categories. Elise Chambers and Hayley Connelly were both named to the All-Region honorable mention team.

Blankenzee, a sophomore from Julianadorp, Netherlands, led the Bearkats and was second in the Southland in overall average per frame with a 21.23 mark. She was tops in the league in baker average and strike percentage. She was a two-time all-tournament selection this season and was the MVP at the Kat Klash.

Chambers finished the regular season seventh in the Southland in overall average. She is a two-time Southland Bowler of the month selection, taking the honors for November and most recently for February. Twice this season Chambers was named as the Tournament MVP winning at the Hawk Classic as well as at the Lady Techster Classic. In all she was named to the All-Tournament team 4 times this season.

Connelly led the Southland in baker double percentage and was ninth in the league in overall average. Connelly was named to the all-tournament team at the Hawk Classic.
