Kats host Prairie View in season opener

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston tennis team will open the 2023 season with a doubleheader against Prairie View on Sunday at the McAdams Tennis Center.

The Bearkats and Panthers will begin the doubleheader with a dual match at 10 a.m. with the second to follow at 2 p.m. Sam Houston went 9-11 last season and opened with a pair of victories over Prairie View, topping the Panthers 4-2 and 7-0.

The Kats return letter winners Megan Basson, Andjela Vidovic and Sahithi Vutukuru off last year's squad and welcome newcomers McKenzy Byfield, Paula Cerda, Yasmin El Fadili, Aaliyah Hohmann, Anastasia Khokhlova, Vianne Schwab and Linn Svaerd.

This season, Sam Houston will also host Texas State on Jan. 27, UTSA on Feb. 5, Stephen F. Austin on March 19, Abilene Christian on March 24, Tarleton on March 26, Utah Tech on April 6 and Seattle U on April 8.

Admission to the McAdams Tennis Center is free.
