Kats in fourth at TRACK Kat Klash

HOUSTON — The Sam Houston bowling team has put itself in position to win the TRACK Kat Klash after another solid showing on Saturday at the Emerald Bowl.

The Bearkats went a 3-2 on day two to improve to 6-4 and move into third place with 10,200 total pins, an average of 204.0 per match. Louisiana Tech remains in the top spot of the 16-team field with 10,321 pins followed by Maryville (10,301) and Nebraska (10,211).
"This morning was a huge start, and we made the best of some favorable lanes," head coach Brad Hagen said. "The characteristics of this center can get wonky quick, and we need to stay focused on what we're trying to do so to avoid the hiccups. We're looking to focus on another solid start to day three as we look to climb the ladder. We're putting ourselves in position to compete and win on the weekend so now we have to start closing."

Denise Blankenzee had a solid showing for the Kats on Saturday with a 225.4 average to place second in the individual standings. In the first two matches, she scored 252 and 266 as Sam Houston defeated Southern 1,095-840 and Eastern Shore 1,117-822.

Kaia Gray placed in the top 10 by finishing eighth with a 214.2 average. Her best game was a 248 against Eastern Shore.
The Bearkats will face Nebraska in bracket play on Sunday.
