Kats claim another tournament title

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The Sam Houston women's golf team continued its hot start the spring season by winning its third tournament at the Oral Roberts Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

The Bearkats crushed the 12-team field by 20 strokes after firing rounds of 284-292-281 for a 7-under 857 at the par-72, 6,130-yard course at The Club at Indian Springs. Oral Roberts was second (857) followed by Missouri State (894), Northern Colorado (895), Tarleton (910), Wichita State (914), Texas A&M-Commerce (916), Stephen F. Austin (920), UTRGV (922), Drake (927), Western Texas Community College (928) and UTA (931).

Leah Alberto won the individual championship by shooting rounds of 70-74-67 for a 5-under 211. Jennifer Herbst placed fourth with rounds of 70-71-73 for 2-under 214.

Jenn David posted a top-10 finish by tying for eighth place after carding a 4-over 220 with rounds of 71-76-73. Viera Permata Rosada and Zulaikah Nasser just missed the top 10 when they tied for 11^th at 5-over 221. Rosada shot rounds of 73-78-70, and Nasser turned in 79-71-71.
