Kats remain in lead at WAC Championships

BLAINE, Wash. — The Sam Houston women's golf team increased its lead to five strokes at the WAC Championship following the second round on Monday at Semiahmoo Country Club.

The Bearkats shaved a stroke off their first-round score with a 4-over 292 for a two-day total of 585 heading into the final 18 holes on Tuesday. California Baptist remains in second (592) followed by New Mexico State (593), Seattle (595), Southern Utah (601), Grand Canyon and Utah Valley (612), UTRGV (625), Tarleton (629), UTA (633) and Stephen F. Austin (646).

Zulaikah Nasser and Jennifer Herbst moved into a tie for second. Nasser shot a 2-under 70 Monday and Herbst was 1-over 72 as both sit at 1-over 145 for the tournament.

Viera Permata Rosada also improved her first round with an even-par 72 to move up the board into a tie for seventh at 3-over 147. Leah Alberto shot a 6-over 78 and now tied for 11^th at 5-over 149, and Jenn David is tied for 25^th at 9-over 153 following a 5-over 77 on Tuesday.
