Gray selected to All-Region team

Sam Houston sophomore Bret Gray has been named to the NCAA Division I PING All-Region team by the Golf Coaches of America Association.

Gray was selected to the Central region team along with golfers from Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, TCU, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas Tech, SMU and Kansas State.

Gray was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year earlier this month following a third-place finish at the conference championships. He also qualified for the NCAA Norman Regional where he placed 11^th.

The first-team All-WAC selection posted two wins and six top five finishes this season. He won the Blackjack Shootout on Montgomery and claimed the individual championship at the Bayou City Classic in Houston.

Gray finished second at the Bearkat Invitational in Montgomery and third at both the White Sands Invitational in the Bahamas and at the All American Collegiate in Humble.
