Kats sign keeper from Austin Peay

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston women's soccer team has added a goalkeeper with Division I experience for next season, head coach Sonia Curvelo announced.

Katie Bahn, a former two-year starter at Austin Peay, is transferring to Sam Houston where she will be eligible to play in the fall of 2025. The Hendersonville, Tennessee product started 27 games the previous two seasons for the Govs.

"We look forward to having Katie with us," Curvelo said. "She will be an excellent addition to our program and will provide a quality depth in our goalkeeper program that will strengthen our team."

Bahn had a breakout season in 2023 when she was second on Austin Peay in minutes with 1,864, which placed her 35th in the nation. She also finished with 109 saves, which was good enough to rank 12th in the country and third in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

She led the Govs to their most wins (five) since 2018, and she was ranked 51st nationally with 5.19 saves per match. Bahn was a four-year starter at Hendersonville High School, earning all-state and all-district honors and winning numerous district and regional championships.
