Kats hold slim lead at Bama Beach Bash

GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Sam Houston women's golf team is clinging to a one stroke lead through 18 holes at the Bama Beach Bash Golf Club on Monday.

The Bearkats, after weather shortened the planned 54-hole tournament to 38, fired a 4-over 292 to climb to the top of the leaderboard one stroke ahead of second-place Austin Peay following the first round. UNC-Ashville and Oral Roberts are both tied for third at 10-over, and Oral Roberts and Central Arkansas are tied for fifth out of the 17-team field at 13-over.

Jenn David is tied for second in the individual standings. She shot a 1-under 71 on the 6,002-yard course with five birdies and four birdies.

Amelia Guo sits tied for fourth place at even-par 72. Viera Permata Rosada is currently tied for 10th at 1-over 73, and Jennifer Herbst gives Sam Houston four golfers within the top 15 as she is also tied for 10th.

Zulaikah Nasser is close behind her teammates at 3-over 74 which has her tied for 25^th along with Grace Jin.
