HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston got tripped up in the seventh inning as No. 23 Texas State rallied for a 6-4 victory at Bearkat Softball Complex on Tuesday.
The Bobcats (27-7) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with two runs on three hits off starter
Abigail Young. That lead was short lived.
Sam Houston (12-20) exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead.
Brodie Quinlan led off with a single, and a fielder's choice and hit by a pitch loaded the bases with one out. A wild pitch scored a run, and
Ellie Grill laced a two-run single through the right side to make it 3-2.
The Kats' final run came on another error as Sam Houston went up 4-2.
The Bobcats were able to put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh off reliever
Mika Vento, who took the loss in the circle.
Sam Houston will travel to Western Kentucky for a three-game series beginning Thursday at 6 p.m.
