HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston will close its 2024 women's tennis schedule with a pair of Conference USA dual matches Thursday and Sunday at the McAdams Tennis Center.
The Kats play host to NM State on Thursday and Jax State on Saturday. First serve for both contests is set for 1 p.m.
Thursday the Kats and the Aggies will meet for the seventh time. The all-time series is tied at three wins apiece. NM State won in 1999, 2022 and 2022. The Kats won three of the first five meetings with victories in 1988, 1989 and 2018.
Sam Houston sports a 5-3 record this spring on their home court. For the season, the Kats are 7-9 overall and 1-2 in league play.
NM State brings a 4-10 dual match season mark and a 2-1 CUSA won-lost record into the fray. The Aggies own victories over Abilene Christian, Western New Mexico, Weber State and Kansas City.
Jax State, meanwhile, sits a 9-7 overall and 1-1 in CUSA play. The Gamecocks will enter the weekend having won each of their last four dual matches.
Senior Paula Cerda, freshman India Fenleys and sophomore Linn Svaerd sport the Kats' top singles totals this spring. Cerda has posted 14 singles wins in dual match action at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions combined. Fenleys owns 10 victories in appearances in the Nos. 1, 3 and 4 spots. Svaerd had won seven dual matches combined at the Nos. 5 and 6 spots.
Megan Basson, Aaliyah Holhman, Vianne Schwab, Robi Sechi and Sahithi Vutukuru have all seen action in the Nos. 3-6 positions.
Following this weekend's action, the Bearkats will close out regular season action with trips to face Middle Tennessee and Tennessee-Southern at Murfreesboro, Tenn., on April 13 and 14, respectively.
The Conference USA women's tennis championships tournament is scheduled for April 18 through 21 in Miami, Fla.
