SEASIDE, Calif. – The Sam Houston men's golf team finished 13th to wrap up the fall season in the Saint Mary's Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course on Wednesday.
 
The Bearkats shot 4-under par in the final round to end the day with +19 over 54 holes. Jackson Hymer had four birdies in the final round, firing off 74-73-71 and placed 26th. Alex Malanga and Sebastian May finished at +6 and tied for 49th. Malanga started off shooting 76-75 and later had five birdies to shoot 71 in round three. May had three birdies in the back nine to be even par in the last round of play.
 
In the end, Arkansas State took the team title at 19-under par. The host, Saint Mary's, was the next closest team at -15, followed by Santa Clara (-2). The Kats had 6 strokes over New Mexico State for a preview of Conference USA competition.
 
 
Grayson Petru finished with 7-over par, shooting 73-78 in the first two rounds, and later shot even with three birdies in the final round. Caleb Lumpkin had three birdies in the back nine to finish the tournament strong, shooting 88-84-70.
 
The Bearkats open the spring season in the Bentwater Intercollegiate on February 9-10 at Bentwater Country Club.
