DALLAS – The Sam Houston men's golf team finished tied for eleventh with Abilene Christian in the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club on Tuesday.
Bearkats shot six-over par in the final round as they ended the day with +7 over 54 holes.
Alex Malanga had three birdies and an eagle on the 16th hole in the final round, firing off 73-69-72 for the week to be two under par and finish tied for 25th.
Jackson Hymer shot one under after starting off hot shooting 70 with six birdies in the first round and later shot 73-72.
In the end, USC and Rice shared the team titles with both finishing -32 overall. The next closest team to the Trojans and the Owls was South Alabama with -31.
Ethan Dufresne had four birdies in the final two rounds to shoot 75-72-76 on his scorecard and placed 59th overall.
Sebastian May had an eagle in the second round and continued to shoot consistently firing off 76-74-74 to finish 63rd.
Grayson Petru started off hot shooting 71 with five birdies in the first round and later turned in 78-77.
Caleb Lumpkin competed as an individual finishing 55th with 76-74-72 (+6).
The Bearkats will be back in two weeks for the Saint Mary's Invitational in Seaside Calif. at Bayonet Golf Club.
The tournament will begin Monday, October 20, and is hosted by Saint Mary's.
