Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU scored six times in the first two innings and held on to complete a weekend sweep with an 11-1 win in eight innings over the Sam Houston Bearkats on Sunday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.
The Hilltoppers (25-3, 4-2 CUSA) moved into first place in the league standings with the sweep of the Kats (7-21, 1-5 CUSA) and remained undefeated in 21 games on their home turf in 2025.
Addison Smith had a pair of hits for the Kats, while freshman Keegan Demmer picked up his first career RBI in the fourth inning, driving in SHSU's first run of the weekend. Garrett Baumann got his second starter of the year, but was tagged with his first loss as a Bearkat after allowing six runs on five hits in 1.1 innings of work.
WKU, meanwhile, had three players with multiple RBI and ended with 15 total hits in the game. Ethan Lizama and Kyle Hayes each had 2-run homers for the Hilltoppers.
Dawson Hall got the start for the Toppers and struck out five hitters in 3.0 inning and was credited with his fourth win on a predetermined staff day for WKU.
