Aggies take down Kats in midweek action

HUNTSVILLE – The Texas A&M Aggies scored in five consecutive innings to hand the Sam Houston Bearkats a 14-1 loss in seven innings on Tuesday night at Don Sanders Stadium.Â
Sam Houston (8-25) led early on a solo home run from Brady Christensen in the bottom of the first inning, but the Aggies (17-15) struck for two runs in the third and broke it open with five runs in the fourth on their way to their second straight midweek run-rule win.Â
Cam Diaz went 3.0 innings with a pair of strikeouts, but took the loss to fall to 0-2 on the year. He was one of six Kats to take time on the mound. Â
Aggie reliever Caden McCoy got the win with an inning of relief of starter Gavin Lyons, picking up two of the 12 punchouts for the A&M staff. Â
The Kats finished with just four hits in the game with Jace Martinez, Ty Marthiljohni and Sam Lee each adding a single to Christensen's second blast in as many games. Â
UP NEXT Â
The Kats will open a 3-game Conference USA series with Kennesaw State on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the first-ever meeting with the Owls. All three games of the series are scheduled to be aired on ESPN+.
