LINCOLN, Neb. – The Sam Houston men's golf team will go into the final day of the Git-R-Done Invitational in fifth place at -1 overall after 36 holes of play at Firethorn Golf Course on Monday.
The Bearkats shot -5 in round one and +4 in round two.
Alex Malanga sits in a tie for fourth place overall at -4 through two rounds of play. He started off the day with an even-par round of 71 with four birdies, then scored six birdies en route to a round of 67 on his second 18 of the day.
Grayson Petru started off hot leading the Kats in the first round with a round of 67, collecting six birdies on the round, but closed the day at +3 after closing with a 78 in the second round.
Jackson Hymer fired rounds of 70-71 to finish the day one shot under par for the tournament.
Caleb Lumpkin shot even in the first round with five birdies and later shot 76 with three birdies to close the day at +5.
Sebastian May shot matching rounds of 74-74 to help the Bearkats enter the final day of play as one of five teams under par.
Ethan Dufresne, playing as an individual, finished the day at +4 with 70-76 on his scorecard.
The final round of the Git-R-Done Invitational is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring can be followed on Scoreboard by Clippd.
