CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Sam Houston men's golf team finished 14th in closing out the Bearcat Invitational at Coldstream Country Club on Tuesday.
The Bearkats shot four over par in the final round as they ended the day with +16 over 54 holes.
Alex Malanga had five birdies and an eagle in the final round for an impressive round of 67 after firing off rounds of 72-72 on Monday. He finished two under par for the week, finishing 11th overall.
Grayson Petru finished with +1 and placed 26th overall with four birdies on Tuesday and 71-72-71 on his scorecard for the week.
In the end, the host Cincinnati took the team title, finishing -18 overall. The next closest team to the Bearcats was Little Rock at -7, followed by Arkansas (-1) and Nebraska (+1).
Rounding out the Kats' lineup,
Jackson Hymer shot 72-76-75 with a birdie and an eagle in the final round placing 73rd overall.
Caleb Lumpkin came in just behind at 75th, shooting 77-71-76.
Ethan Dufresne finished 89th with 74-80-75
The Bearkats will be in action again next week in the Git-R-Done Invitational at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.
The tournament will begin Monday, September 22, and is hosted by Nebraska.
