LINCOLN, Neb. – The Sam Houston men's golf team finished sixth in the Git-R-Done Invitational at Firethorn Golf Course on Tuesday.
Bearkats shot seven over par in the final round as they ended the day with +6 over 54 holes.
Alex Malanga had four birdies in the final round firing off 71-67-69 for the week to be six under par and finish fourth overall.
Grayson Petru and
Jackson Hymer finished with +4 and tied for 31st. Petru started off hot shooting 67 in the first round and later turned in 78-72. Hymer had 70-71-76 on his scorecard with two birdies on the back nine of the final round.
In the end, the host Nebraska took the team title, finishing -29 overall. The next closest team to the Huskers was Kansas State with -12.
Sebastian May shot consistently with +3 on all three rounds to finish 48th overall. Just behind him,
Caleb Lumpkin scored three birdies to be 52nd overall firing off 71-76-76.
Ethan Dufresne competed as an individual finishing 45th with 70-76-75 (+8).
The Bearkats will be in back in two weeks for the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Course in Dallas.
The three-day tournament will begin Sunday, October 5, and is hosted by SMU.
