Kats Shut Out the Lobos

YOUNGSVILLE, La. — Sam Houston Softball finishes the weekend 4-1 after shutting out New Mexico 6-0 to close the Mardi Gras Mambo tournament. Â
The Bearkats (7-3) took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning, scoring one run, and extended it with three runs in the third. Sam Houston added two more runs in the fifth to secure the win and held the Lobos (3-7) to just one hit over the final two innings.Â
Veronica Harrison and Kinsey Hobbs led the Bearkats with two hits each. Harrison recorded a double and an RBI, while Bella Perez also added a double and an RBI.Â
Tiffany Sanchez pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out four over seven innings. She improved to 2-1 in the circle.Â
The Bearkats return home Tuesday for a matchup against the Cardinals of Lamar at 6 p.m. on Feb. 17.Â
