Bearkats Host Lamar in Midweek Match Up

HUNTSVILLE— Sam Houston returns home Tuesday night to face Lamar at the Bearkat Softball Complex.Â
The Bearkats (7-3) are coming off a 4-1 weekend. Freshman Sophia Lundstrom leads the team with 14 hits this season, followed closely by Bella Perez with 13. Perez paces the team with four home runs, including two this past weekend. Jordan Peno leads the Bearkats with two triples, while Veronica Harrison has a team-high four doubles.Â
Freshman Carlee Bubela holds the lowest ERA on the staff at 1.17 and has allowed just five hits this season. Amy Abke leads the pitching staff with a 2-0 record and 19 strikeouts.Â
Sam Houston owns a 32-12 all-time record against Lamar (5-4). The teams first met in 1984 and most recently faced off last season. The Bearkats are 18-4 against the Cardinals at home and have scored 204 total runs in the series.Â
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17. The Bearkats will recognize Mental Health Awareness during the game. The matchup will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
