LINCOLN, Neb. — Sam Houston moved up three spots in the standings following day two at the Big Red Invite on Saturday.
The Bearkats went 2-3 and are currently in sixth place with 9,945 total pins after closing day one in ninth. Jax State continues to lead with 10,747 pins followed by Nebraska, Wichita State, Maryville and Arkansas State. Vanderbilt is in seventh with Youngstown State, Louisiana Tech, McKendree, Quincy and Western Illinois.
"Today was mostly a solid day until the very last set," head coach Brad Hagen said. "Paying attention to the details and self awareness needs to be better so not to overcompensate. Whenever you're battling the top 10, every moment matters, every shot or error highlighted, so quality control is a must. We still have an opportunity to check some boxes tomorrow and this weekend and I'm hopeful we can get what we need."
Miya Greene had another solid showing in individual competition, placing fourth with a 220.60 average and a high game of 269. Breana Chewens also had another top-10 finish, coming in sixth with a 219.40 average.
Emily Hart placed 19th with a 202.40 average, and Noey Sarntong finished 20th to give Sam Houston four rollers in the top 20 of the individual standings.
The Bearkats will close out the Big Red Invite on Sunday.
