HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston baseball will return to the friendly confines of Don Sanders Stadium for four games this week, starting with a midweek battle with UT Arlington on Tuesday night.
Tuesday's game can be watched on ESPN+ with Jason Barfield and Leah Vann on the call. It can also be followed via live stats on Statbroadcast. Fans are also encouraged to follow @BearkatsBSB on X and Instagram.
The Bearkats are coming with a successful week which saw them win three of four games overall on the road, including taking two of three from FIU over the weekend to secure the program's first road series win since it's last trip to Miami in May of 2024.
Sam Houston put pressure on the Panthers all weekend, swiping 15 bases in the 3-game series. The Kats now have a CUSA-best 63 steals for the season with Jeric Curtis leading the way with 14.
The Mavs come in at just8-15, but have three top-25 weekend wins on their ledger, knocking off Arkansas in its series opener and then taking two of three from UTSA two weekends ago. However, UTA had lost four in a row after its wins over the Roadrunners before salvaging its latest weekend with a Sunday win over St. John's.
SERIES vs UT ARLINGTON
- Sam Houston leads the all-time series with the Mavericks by a 58-49 margin, including 34-19 in Huntsville
- The Kats have won five consecutive times vs UTA, not falling to the Mavs in Huntsville since 2011
- Last season the Bearkats pulled out a 9-7 win at Clay Gould Ballpark, one of just two road victories for the Kats in 2025
QUICK HITTERS

- Sam Houston currently leads in CUSA and ranks 18th in the nation with 63 stolen bases with 35 coming from the trio of Jeric Curtis (14), Hunter Alvord (11), Caleb Cotton (10). Jace Martinez enters Tuesday with nine swipes, needing one more to become the fourth Kat in double figures and five more to reach 50 for his career
- The Kats are 3-2 in midweek games in 2026 and will be looking to win consecutive midweeks for the first time in 2026 after having defeated Lamar last Tuesday in Beaumont
- The Kats will be looking for more from its starting pitching with its starting pitcher taking a no-decision in four of the last five games. It will be Noah Kendrick's first start of the season. He made 11 starts in 2025, including four midweek starts early in the year before moving into the weekend rotation at the beginning of CUSA play
