HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston opened its weekend series with a shutout victory over Middle Tennessee on Friday night at the Bearkat Softball Complex.Â
The Bearkats (22-15, 7-3 Conference USA) jumped out early in the first inning. Bella Perez delivered an RBI double, followed by an RBI single from Veronica Harrison to give Sam Houston a 2-0 lead.Â
Tiffany Sanchez controlled the game in the circle, recording nine strikeouts while allowing just four hits.Â
Middle Tennessee (13-17, 3-7 CUSA) was led by leadoff hitter Macie Harter, who finished with two hits, including a double.Â

In the fifth, Morgan Holliday singled to the left side to spark another opportunity, though the inning again ended without additional runs.Â
