Kats sixth in first tournament at North Texas

DENTON, TX -- Benjamin Smith and Beau Willis were the top two individual finishers for the Sam Houston State men's golf team as the Bearkats placed sixth at the Cobb Ferrell Mean Green Classic at Lantana Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament was the first event for the Bearkats for the 2007-08 season.
Smith shot a 72-75--147 and Willis 78-69--147 to tie for 24th place in the individual standings. Brandon Frankhouser was 33rd with a 72-76--148. Scott Kelly and Fergal Rafferty tied for 36th with a pair of 149 36-hole totals.
Western Kentucky won the team championship with a two-day total of 571.
