Men's golf wins fourth fall tournament

KERRVILLE, TXÂ Led by Fergal Rafferty who won his second individual medalist championship of the fall, the Sam Houston men's golf team won the team title at the Texas-San Antonio Invitational Tuesday at Comanche Trace Golf Club.
The Bearkats fired a 54-hole score of 309-299-296--904 to win the tournament by three strokes over Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns carded a 314-304-289--907 team score.
The tournament title was the fourth championship in five events for the Sam Houston men's team this fall.

Rafferty, who also won an individual title earlier this month at the Texas-Oklahoma Shootout, placed first individually with a 74-71-75--220 score. Scott Kelly placed sixth with a 75-75-73--223 card.

Florida Gulf Coast placed third with a 909 total, followed by Arkansas-Little Rock 910, Central Arkansas 911, Stephen F. Austin 914, Southeastern Louisiana 915, Texas 922, South Florida 925, DePaul 931, UTSA 939, Boston College 973 and McNeese State 986.

Other Sam Houston individual scores and standings were Caleb LeNorman 12th (80-75-70--225), Beau Willis 45th (80-79-78--237), J. R. Hurley 54th (84-78-78--240), Lee Broussard 55th (87-82-72--241) and Casey Nelson 64th (86-78-85--249).Â
