
Sam Houston's Scott Kelly wins individual title

Scott Kelly of Sam Houston State won the individual medalist championship at the Elkins Lake Fall Golf Classic hosted by Sam Houston State Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament was stopped after 36 holes due to wet course conditions after three days of rain. Tuesday morning, the final three holes of the second round were completed from Monday and then the event was suspended.
Stephen F. Austin won the men's team championship.
SFA's 15-under score of 272-289-561 broke a 26-year-old tournament record of 564 set by Sam Houston State on the way to the 1983 Elkins Fall fall title.
Stephen F. Austin earned its fourth championship in the event. The Lumberjacks won the 1981, 1984 and 1992 tournaments.
Sam Houston's men's team placed third behind Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma Christian. The Bearkats shot a 288-283-571.
Kelly's eight-under 69-67-136 total broke the Elkins Lake Fall Classic men's 36-hole record of 138 set by Dan Cook of Sam Houston in 1983 and Brandt Kieschnick of SHSU in 1996.
Other Sam Houston State individual finishes including Fergal Rafferty 11th 74-69--143, Kort O'Leary 18th 75-71--146, Justin McKay 21st 72-76--148, and Beau Willis 29th 73-77--150.
