Men 5th at Louisiana Tech Squire Creek Classic

The Sam Houston State men's golf team rallied from a ninth place standing after 36 holes to finish the tournament in fifth place at the Louisiana Tech Classic on the par 72, 7,105-yard course at Squire Creek Country Club in Ruston, LA.
Scott Kelly and Fergal Rafferty led the men's team, both with top 10 individual finishes. Cedric Scotto of Southeastern Louisiana was the individual medalist champion with a six-under total of 68-70-72--210.
Kelly and Rafferty tied for ninth place. Kelly shot a 73-71-72--216 while Rafferty's card read 73-73-70--216. Other Bearkat finishes included Justin McKay 31st 73-75-73--221, Albert Miner 58th 84-70-75--229 and Casey Nelson 81-78-76--235.
New Orleans won the Lousiana Tech Classic with a team score of 854, followed by Southeastern Louisiana at 863, Middle Tennessee 867, Rice 869 and Sam Houston 879.
Both Sam Houston State men and women will be in action again next Monday and Tuesday when the Bearkats play host to their only home tournament of the year, the Elkins Lake Classic.
