Men's golf places 9th at UTSA Oak Hills Invt.

SAN ANTONIO - Shooting a third round team score of 293, the Sam Houston men's golf team leaped up two spots to place ninth in the final standings at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
The Bearkats ended with a 54-hole team score of 306-292-293--891.
Sam Houston's Scott Kelly placed 10th in the individual medalist competition, leading the Bearkats with a two-over 54-hole total of 72-73-73--218.
Texas Tech won the team championship by two strokes, totaling 875 to Southeastern Louisiana's 877. The pair were tied going into Tuesday's final round.
Tulsa was third at 878, followed by Baylor 878, North Texas 880, Iowa State 887, Stephen F. Austin 889, Wichita State 890, Sam Houston 891, Texas State 895, Louisiana-Lafayette 896, Oklahoma 901, Air Force 916, UTSA 920 and Illinois State 932.
The Bearkats leap-frogged over Texas State and Louisiana-Lafayette to jump from an 11th place standing after 36 holes to 9th on the final leader board.
Other Sam Houston individual scores and finishes were Fergal Rafferty 37th 78-72-74--224, Garrett Driver 79-73-76--228, Kort O'Leary 53rd 84-74-72--230 and Justin McKay 57th 77-80-84--231.
The event opened the 2010 spring semester schedule for the Sam Houston State men's golf team.
